UR Value (Your Value, You Are Value) is a web based installation.
Shortly after September 11, 2001, the President signed the ??September 11th Victim Compensation Fund of 2001.?? It authorized compensation to the survivors of those killed on that day.
A "Special Master" was charged with assigning value to the lives of the deceased which serves as the basis for economic compensation.
Just how is this value established. How does one calculate the worth of a human life? What is a person's value? Many people disapproved of the Fund, arguing that taxpayer revenue should be spent on social programs instead. Others expressed regret that victims of other tragedies were not given the same benefit of compensation. This project explores the question of the value of our lives against the backdrop of this national debate. To view more go to: www.urvalue.com
